Action Research Plan

My plan is aesthetically ugly when I have tried to post. So I will briefly describe it. I’ve chosen to evaluate our hallway procedure and how it affects our student’s behavior and classroom management skills of teachers. I foresee teachers not enforcing hall way pass procedure. I think teachers will make exceptions and allow students out of the classroom with having a pass. I will express the consequences for students and teachers who do not follow protocol before the start of school. The consequences for students could include detention, parental conference, or community service to school and for avid hall walkers, ISS. As for teachers, we should all accept this hallway procedure, prior to start of year, so that students know we are all are consistent in expectations. The consequence for teachers will be a verbal conversation of clarity of procedures. After continual offense, then a meeting with administrators will happen. We must adopt a mutually agreed upon policy. We must ensure that every student receives their passes. I will address these challenges through consistent, persistent, active listening when evaluating and analyzing any obstacle. I will build and maintain genuine relationships and collaborate with my peers. I will regularly reflect and make inquiries to effective and ineffective practices and then make appropriate adjustments.

Despite the lectures and articles warning us to maintain focus, I feel like I am losing some focus before I choose my focus. There are so many action research studies that I feel are important to my campus and I am excited still about this whole program. I want to research the importance of the culture of relationships. I want to look into the perceived atmosphere of our campus, the sense or lack of belonging, pride and community. I want to look at how all stakeholders perceive campus culture, how effective are students, teachers and administrators, and what are the missing elements and the elements. Additionally, or more narrowly focused, I have a wondering if our campus had protocol for hallway behavior and passes, how would our attitudes and sentiments improve if all staff and students followed the protocol? When students are tardy or roaming the halls, would specified procedure for students & teachers positively affect attitude and school climate? I fear being too broad or too narrow in my action research. Nevertheless, there are a few significances and benefits in my action research study. Primarily, students will be educated nurtured and enhanced academically. Teachers will be supported, validated and enhanced professionally. Administrators will be enhanced as effective, influential leaders. The campus will show academic and general improvements in attitude.

reflections of research wk2

There is so much upon which to reflect as an educator. Now we have a structured or more purposeful way to really dig deep into our practices, our effectiveness as educators and administrators. I have moments where I feel overwhelmed and moments where I am confident in conquering any weakness. Appreciate all the patience, feedback, and support of my classmates and professors.

possible blog uses for educators

Educators and administrators can use blogs as a way to communicate, share, collaborate, and reflect their experiences, successess and failures with other educators and administrators who want to improve their art of educating young minds and leading their peers to productive scholastic achievement.
Hi Everyone! For all who believe that the children are the future, please take time to respond to my reflections as an aspiring administrator. I thank you in advance. Action Research is a way to reflect on any issues or problems that you believe your campus is facing and to make inquiries on effective methods of solving those problems. Prinicpals and teachers are busy with multitasking and micro/macro managing people, personalities and individual responsibiliteis daily. We must take and make time to reflect on our effectiveness or lack there of and action research is one way to do so. Every campus, teacher, prinicpal, and community desires a positive, intellectual, and progressive student body & culture but that is not always the case. Educators must find creative and effective ways to create this strong scholastic system; the responsibility falls on the leadership.

I have learned that ACTION RESEARCH is critical skill that administrators and teachers need to develop. It provides an avenue for educators to concentrate on student achievement while discussing and reflecting the effective classroom habits of students and teachers. We can use this both as a staff and individually. I can take the steps of reflecting on a specific issue, collaborate with my stakeholders, and creating a action plan which will lead to an action project. I will have to monitor this plan and fix its weaknesses. I can use this as a way to focus on an issue and attack it productively and effectively.
